The Joys of Popcorn

I haven't laughed so much during a movie... in a while. It was silly, relaxing and not mind-boggling in any way. Just crazy conversation. Adam Sandler's new movie is just perfect for some mid-week laughter especially after some serious furniture hunting and number crunching.  All that adrenaline mixed with anxiety to furnish - recipe for collapse.  Truly, only free popcorn and  Coke Pepsi light could have helped ( coupons - only better). Now, I guess we're all geared up again to make some choices for our home this weekend. Oh, excitement! The weeks seemed to have just flown by. It's almost May. Seriously? This means life has been keeping me busy. Come to think, life has been pretty good. I thank God., especially as the Holy Week sinks in. I had lunch at Anke's yesterday, (Maundy Thursday) to commemorate this significant day of the year. It was wonderful time spent with my friends - blessings in my life.
Okay, so where was I? Ah, yes.  Popcorn and movie. Which actually reminds me of a better story. There was popcorn at Roxette's concert ! Like hello?? That was bizarre  Everything was like 80's of course and they had a choice of salt or caramel popcorn! Just imagine the stripes, the glitter, the shiny tops, the crazy hair and there goes the guy with the carton of popcorn screaming at the top of his lungs. Pure hysterically joy for me. Just the thought of it.
Think of it for just a second. Right? Ha ha
The number of people who actually blenched their hair and had Mohawks were like....
3 at least in our section,  but they stood out !
Picture Mr. Mohawk with a large box of popcorn singing to Roxette, with real skinny black pants. That's so rare in "conservative Chile" you know, any individualistic style for the matter of fact - so all thrill for me, after 5 months. I had moments, where everything stood still and I thought, wow all these craziness with the popcorn and the singing to a band which I thought just a few weeks before had ceased to exist, was in front of me; here for my entertainment -it was all so exhilarating. Strange, but who knew my soul needed this. I listened to this band way back and often heard pieces of it during movies. Could possibly explain why I knew the lyrics to almost every song;  but the fact that she still could get into those leather pants at her age ? Applause. Honestly, true motivation ! - Gun-Marie Fredriksson certainly has abs by the look of her toned arms and how very true - men age very well (mostly). Per Håkan Gessle - not bad care at all . Ah, it was great. Sometimes all we need is popcorn to tickle those senses to get us up and going again :)

Lollapalooza 2011

What a fabulous weekend of music it has been! I'm glad I've gotten to know a few more bands and really enjoyed the atmosphere at Lollapalooza. The National and particularly Fatboy Slim was really the highlight for me and it certainly succeeded in ending the night on a high note for the group of us. It's super how I've gotten the opportunity to attend this International Music Festival and even had the privilege to rest inside the VIP tent for a bit (Ever so dependable especially when food runs out in the general field and the need for food creeps up slowly; Marsha needs to be fed every 5 hours) More importantly, it was a nice sunny day just hanging out with friends and enjoying what we have in common - the love of music. Oh, Lolla gets extra points too for they had this, "Green Culture" save the planet campaign going on  :)
For that additional effort, I'll give them two thumbs up !

Friday Night with Bono

Something we have always loved doing is going for concerts.  Our very first one was Nesian Mystic back in Dunedin ( who are they, you ask? Only one of the most popular NZ pub sell bands ever !) We have even kept all the tickets - we're kinda hoarders in that way ( I know I know, enough with the mushiness already) To date, we have been to concerts in every country we have stayed long enough.  Last two years whilst in Malaysia, we saw Sting, The King of Convenience, Placebo and Jason Mraz. In Australia, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, PINK ( went with Michaela ), Matchbox 20, and KT Tunstall.  Just last week here in Santiago, Chile, we saw U2 and in previous years, Shakira, The Black Eye Peas and Robbie Williams. We try to get the best spots - there's nothing better than getting the VIP spot or close to it.
- being in such close proximity to the artist, is really such a treat !
Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity anyways and thus worth the every splurge in my books.
( Unless, you're as lucky as Luis and get to see Bono twice and also Coldplay!)
- Pretty pretty please come back to Chile or somewhere close by Coldplay
All the concerts were great in different ways. Some just had had the best locations and others were just huge presence; like the U2's 360 concert we recently attended. I wonder what our kids would be listening to in their time, but at least I'll be able to say - hey, in my day, dad and I went for so and so. See, we were cool ...but we both have professions too! So now ....go and study ! :)
Ah, who knows.. we might just be sitting in at one of those concerts with them.
Like I turned around at the U2's Concert, to see my friend Christina with her daughter.
That would be something, aye? :)
This weekend, the concerts continue - to Lollapalooza featuring the likes of  Ben Harper, The Killers, Fatboy Slim, Cypres Hill, Kanye West and Jane's Addiction and many more.
The following week to Roxette with Marcela !
"Listen to you heart.... when he's calling for you.....Listen to your heart .......
there's nothing else you can do......"
(I best leave it to her :) but what EXCITEMENT - life is good.

Creamfields Chile

The Undas' enjoy a night out at loud dance parties or clubs a lot lesser now.  Though at the core of ourselves, we'll always believe in the "live a little" attitude. We both met in Dunedin wonderful New Zealand.  A city that is known for its campus life and I think it's safe enough to say that we both know how to really have fun. More importantly at this stage of our lives (married),
to know we have not missed out on any fun.
We no longer crave the "clubby" nights out or the large dance parties though, we do catch ourselves reminiscing now-and -again about the good old times at the various weekly pubs and how we used to dance the night away !
I do feel through the years,  we've found so much fun in each other which I'm very thankful for.
Thus it's a no-brainer when there's a party in the vicinity especially when we have the "V.I.P status" - it really works well with our once-in-a-while mode and  since we've had many unforgettable nights out with really good friends or just by ourselves, it's yet another opportunity to add to that !
So last Friday, we found ourselves with two V.I.P tickets from Luis's company for Creamfields Chile.  We certainly got all dolled-up and hyped for this music festival - Anyways people,  we were attending the largest dance party that has won multiple-awards worldwide featuring some of the best musicians and DJ's with the likes of David Guetta, Faithless and Paul Van Dyk to mention a few.
The package was brilliant , we were handed a table for ourselves, champagne & our very own waiter
- certainly icing on the cake !
Definitely a big improvement from the crowds we had to push through in our good old varsity times to get even a pint of beer. Hindsight, I wouldn't have changed a thing about those sweet memories -  they are nicely kept and well appreciated.
I'm a huge believer of " Everything in good time" and living life to its fullest with whatever you have and as little as that may be. With that, I believe you'll all still find us at a ripe old age, hopefully healthy , having a nice slow dance (hopefully jamming at times too ) but always very much content with our lives.
-Appreciate life and you'll truly live"
