Wonders of Cream Cheese

Am I missing Malaysian food yet? Its been a month now since I've had a really good Malaysian stall food satisfaction kinda eat-out - the Kuey Teow I had with Luis across the road from Capsquare, the Pan Mee I had with mum at KLCC when she came to see me off,  the Paper Tosai with butter and sugar with the Pereira's, the real spicy Nasi Lemak that Grandpa got me for breakfast and the surprise Nasi Lemak that I got on Malaysian Airlines on the way to Buenos Aires - that... I was certainly overjoyed with !
Luis in fact said, " Your face kinda lit up" believe it or not - that kind of happiness.

So am I missing Malaysian food yet? Well, no ....let me think again....seriously no actually . Thank God for that revelation ! This is good because the Undas' are planning to head back home only in 2012 and we're yet to venture out to the few Chinese shops that must be somewhere in Santiago and our cargo with my ingredients are floating somewhere in the Pacific Ocean for another month of so.  Also, I mustn't forget to tell about the great Chinese meal we had a week or so into living in Santiago -that must have really helped dampened the whole Malaysian appetite crave I believe I must have had,  though i'm very aware that it'll eventually surface in due time.  If you're wondering, Chile indeed has many Chinese eateries where you can find popular dishes. They have improved a lot too. We found ourselves having a nice portion of plausible sweet and sour pork compared to the neon orange dish we had back in 2006 ! - there is always hope

Last night though, I caught myself craving for pasta and actually mentioned it to Luis. Oh, I so blame it on that movie I just watched last Sunday night -" Eat, Pray,Love"!
( I found the book better though, on that note, Peter Jackson did an excellent job with The Lord of the Rings ) all that pasta in Rome brought back delicious memories for Luis & I - how we walked and ate the streets away and loved it all and how we're dreaming of going back again to do just what Elizabeth Gilbert did in Rome.

Oh, with all my talk about pasta, this is gonna be hard to believe but I can hardly believe my luck at times  - Luis really does have a way about him and he never fails to surprise me
Gloria at this minute just came by the room to ask me,
" Senorita, Senora Luz acaba de llamar queria saber si preferia salsa blanca o de tomate?"
No,  life can't be this good, can it?  I guess I'll be having pasta shortly <smiles>

Anyways,  I'm here and  finding it all great, tasting and learning new things. The following dish has been one of my favourites since Luis taught me and even introduced it to my family back in Malaysia.
It's simple but marvelous ! It's made up of cream cheese preferably Philadelphia, light soya sauce and a toss of sesame seed; even better when toasted and microwaved for 40 seconds.
Just serve it with crackers and voila !
-A delicious popular Chilean entree.

The little something I quickly dished -up when Luis said he was coming home early from work sometime last week and "home-early" for us almost always includes a nice pre-dinner nibble.
Luis served us both Pisco Sours when he got back . I had the Mango Sour. The great thing about the Pisco Sours' are that they come in "light" so less calories and you can also find the "light" version of the Cream Cheese.
- less calories that turns into less fat almost always make happy, healthy people no? :)
